Well…as you guys know, I am still on the road, traveling~~~
We all travel! It might be a quick trip to the next town or a massive adventure halfway around the world for months at a time. No matter what kind of trip it is, one thing is certain: our normal routines will be completely gone while traviling! Right?:)
I used to work out in a gym or do my barre in a studio, suddnely I may not have access to any equipment.
I used to run around my neiborhood, suddenly I no longer have a familiar path (or sense of security) to follow.
I used to prepare my own meals, suddenly I don’t even have a kitchen or fridge, let alone food scale*_^.
I used to have a good night sleep, suddenly I’m sleeping under “not my own” sheets, at odd hours in a totally different time zones.
Point is that we are all creatures of habit. How can we stay fit while traveling?
Here are a few things that I’ve been doing over the years when I am on the road.
For weight training, it’s all about “body weight” resistance! My workout consists of: pushup, squat, lunge, plank, burpee, jump jack, mountain climb, etc.
For cardio, I try to walk instead of taking taxi, to use stairs instead of taking elevators,etc.
Eating is soooo important while traveling! You can NEVER exercise your way out of a poor diet! I absolutely watch out “what” I put into my mouth! I’ll go with meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts and try not touch any junk food, processed grains/carbs, and sugary beverages, etc.
Last but not least, when I’m traveling with my family, having fun is my No.1 priority! That said, I won’t go extra miles (e.g. wake up 1hr earlier than everybody else to do running, leave everyone else at hotel room then do my workout, etc..) just to statisfy my own fitness need:) I do what I can, with what I have and where I am~~~
